Sculling - Version 1

Sculling is arguably the best drill for helping you to develop that elusive "feel for the water".  Version 1 from the set of sculling drills places your hands in front of your head - just where you will start the catch phase of your stroke.  It may take a little while to "get" this drill, but stick with it, as that probably means you need to work on your catch.  Sometimes it helps to think about the feeling of the water against your wrists, or to visualise your entire forearm, from elbow to fingertip, as your paddle.  As with many of these drills, you'll benefit from moving straight from the drill into freestyle.
